Elle

"Even though the world is broken, I’ll still try to find beauty and goodness in it. Because that’s what keeps me surviving."

Elle is one of the students of the Ericson’s Boarding School. She’s a kind and soft-spoken girl serving as a supply-runner and medic for the school. Despite her small stature and soft personality, she can fight and defend herself from walkers. She’s also very close with Mitch and is romantically involved with him though it is uncertain if they are ‘official’ as a couple.

Appearance

Elle is a pretty girl with long dark wavy hair and a petite body. She is often called cute but she doesn’t consider herself as one. She says that if she stand beside her sisters, she is nothing as pretty as them, hinting that she also has insecurity issues. She wears an oversized pink polo shirt with a white tank top below tucked into a rugged denim skirt. She wears it with white sneakers and white socks. She also wears a golden necklace with a wooden crescent moon pendant carved by Mitch. She never takes it off. She is also sometimes seen wearing Mitch’s jacket.

Personality

Elle has always been a shy girl. She is described as sweet - always caring for others and choosing to be kind even when people are being mean. She is quiet and chooses rather to observe. She speaks only when necessary but is not afraid to tell what’s on her mind. Despite being quiet, she can be friendly and approachable.

When the outbreak began, she was just as scared as the other kids. At first, she was timid and useless, but being one of the eldest in the school, she realized she must be brave, not just for herself but for others as well in order to survive and protect the ones she love. With this, she learned to be determined and strong-willed, always offering help to others and looking at the brighter side of things.

She is adventurous in her own way, and she expresses this through her love of reading books. With her long stay at the school, she might’ve finished all the books to be found within the academy. When Mitch runs for supplies, he can be always seen handing her a new book, expressing his fondness of her which Elle in return gives him a kiss on the cheek.

With her kind nature, she is seen to be emphatic towards others. She believes that no one is intentionally bad and all people are good at heart. Some people say that it’s her weakness but for her it’s her strength.

Pre-Apocalypse

Elle is originally from the Philippines. She used to live with her family in the Philippines until she was sent to Ericson’s Boarding School for the Troubled Youth. She’s obedient to her parents and excels in class until her only friend in class left school. She felt alone and became depressed until she started to refuse attending school as well, often excusing herself that she’s sick. Her parents noticed this change and consulted her yet she refused, shutting herself away from people. Since her parents had enough of it and they value education, they didn’t tolerate Elle and had no choice but to send her overseas to continue her studies in Ericson’s Boarding School in the hopes of bringing back their once was cheerful and diligent daughter.

Elle was surprised and heart-broken when she learned that she will be sent abroad, thinking that she wasn’t really favored among her siblings. She was especially disappointed in herself for causing trouble for her parents whom she dearly loves. Choosing to be optimistic, she decided that her parents did that for her well-being.

Ever since she stayed in Ericson’s she promised she would be better so that her stay in America won’t be too long. She was homesick and always dreamed of going back in her country. She did well in her subjects and behaved - making the teachers favor her, she also made friends with the students and surprisingly found herself happy in the school, especially when she met Mitch, her first love.

Post-Apocalypse

Elle was one of the students who were left by the adults when the outbreak began, leaving her with the rest of the children to fend for themselves. With her small stature, she is often questioned and underestimated for her abilities. She proves it to them that she’s not weak through her actions, being able to kill numerous walkers on her own and always telling them that she’s able to learn those kills because she learned from a great teacher - referring to Mitch and causing him to blush.

Elle misses her parents and siblings everyday, she wants to go back to the Philippines to see if they are alive but she knows it’s not likely possible so she just prays for their well-being. She’s scared at the thought of them becoming walkers and not having the chance for her parents to see that she’s become a better person. Missing her family, she cries herself to sleep sometimes. Mitch catches her and he doesn’t ask, but he knows why, so he just stays with her throughout the night to comfort her.

Even though there are no more mail couriers, Elle still writes letters to her parents and siblings, keeping the letters inside her music box, hoping that someday if ever the world becomes better and mail couriers come back, she would be able to send it to them.
